Black and gilt chinoiserie-decorated two-seat settee

A two-seat settee of asymmetric double-back form, the black ground decorated overall in gilt with pagodas, figures, fences and flowering plants. Two arched upholstered panels of unequal height flank a pierced centre splat, above a serpentine seat rail and swept legs on metal castors. The upholstery is a pale yellow figured damask woven with pavilions, birds and flowering branches, finished with cream braid.
