Black and gilt lacquered low table with scattered flower and insect decoration

A low rectangular table decorated overall in gilt on a black lacquered ground. The top carries scattered flower sprays and winged insects within a gilt line border, above a deep edge painted with scrolling foliage; the apron and square-section legs are painted with further sprigs between gilt lines and end in scrolled block feet. Wear, surface cracking and losses to the decoration are visible throughout, the pale ground showing at the corners and feet.
