Gilt and silvered lacquer secretaire cabinet with shaped dragon crest

A two-stage secretaire cabinet in gilt and silvered lacquer, the shaped crest raised with a dragon coiling through clouds between gilt ball finials. The serpentine upper doors, decorated with mythical lions beside a bridge over a torrent, open to a red-lacquered interior of shelves and serpentine drawers, above a fall-front enclosing a fabric-lined writing surface. Below, doors of tigers among bamboo flank an open kneehole recess fitted with banks of small drawers, the whole bound in engraved metal mounts, with shaped red reserves of rabbits and a squirrel to the sides, on shaped bracket feet.
