An ebonised and inlaid cabinet with tortoiseshell-effect panels, gilt-metal mounts and central figural niche

A cabinet veneered in mottled red tortoiseshell-effect panels within ebonised mouldings, the borders inlaid with fine lines and circle-and-dot roundels, the sides with large diamonds. At the centre a gilt-metal figure of a woman stands in an arched niche between columns, and this section opens as a door onto five small line-inlaid drawers. Each drawer front carries a gilt keyhole escutcheon cast as paired birds beneath a crown, and the case rests on metal paw feet with ebonised balls behind.
