Pair of Imari palette baluster vases

A pair of baluster vases, each with a flared rim above a swelling body, painted in blue, iron-red and gilt on a white ground. One face of each vase carries a large shaped panel of a flowering tree with massed blossom; the other shows long-tailed birds within shaped panels beneath a round floral medallion at the neck. A band of blue stiff leaves runs around each foot.
