An ebonised low table on cloven-hoofed animal legs

A low rectangular table in an ebonised finish, the overhanging top set above a frieze carved with groups of short vertical flutes. It stands on four boldly carved animal legs, each springing from a feather-lappeted haunch beneath a scrolled bracket and ending in a cloven hoof. The black finish is lightly rubbed through on the carved high points, showing paler wood beneath.
