A profusely inlaid and ebonised kneehole writing desk with drawer superstructure

A kneehole writing desk veneered in dark figured timber and decorated overall with pale engraved inlay of cherubs, winged dragons, warriors, urns and scrolling flowers, with small iridescent accents. The raised superstructure of bow-fronted drawers stands above a writing surface centred on an oval medallion of a torch-bearing figure in a horse-drawn chariot, and each pedestal holds three bow-fronted drawers beside a shaped kneehole cupboard. Ebonised mouldings, scroll supports and collars frame the whole, on tapering inlaid legs joined by shaped X-stretchers on turned feet.
