A deeply raked plantation armchair carved over almost every surface, the crest rail with chained elephants flanking a spiral-fluted motif amid acanthus scrolls, the back and seat covered in reptile skin close-nailed with brass studs. Recumbent lions form the arm terminals, swing-out leg rests extend from beneath the arms, and maned beasts climb head-first down the front legs, with birds, snakes and a crocodile carved among the foliage of the rails and base. The reverse shows a woven cane panel tied through the frame, and the rear legs are joined by a ball-turned stretcher.
